Clic goggles used in 2006 Marathon Des Sables |

Simon Fraylich uses Clic goggles during his marathon run in the desert... in his words...

“A really big thank you to the guys at Clic extreme, they gave me a pair of their extreme goggles for my 2006 Marathon Des Sables, 160 miles across the Sahara dessert. We had the most extreme temperatures and sand storms they had ever experienced during the event before. Whilst the temperatures reached 90degrees by 10 in the morning the sand storms usually started at about midday. The power of these storms was so fierce it was not uncommon for the grains of sand to get under the skin and as it pounds against the uncovered skin it feels like you’re being constantly pricked with 1000's of little pins. Visibility at times was down to no more than a foot in front of you and as you looked down at your feet to check your footing the person you had been following in front of you had disappeared, engulfed by the sand storm.

As extreme as the terrain and weather was the extreme goggles that Clic so had kindly donated to me managed to stand up to anything that the desert had to offer. Impressively the goggles never managed to fog up despite the excessive amount of sweat I managed to produce. The ability to hang the goggles comfortably around my neck was invaluable during the event, with this being a self sufficient event I had enough to worry about with organising my food and cooking gear not having to worry about losing my goggles was very important.

I would recommend Clic Extreme Goggles to any other Mad runner planning an event like the MDS.
